Understanding Night Vision

When you hear of night vision, what comes to your mind? Probably a spy movie or military gear. You may well have wondered if night vision systems really exist or they are just pigments of Hollywood imaginations. Put simply, night vision is as real as it can get. These elements create a detailed temperature diagram or pattern that is called a thermogram. A detector array is used to obtain this data and it takes a fraction of a second to do this. This pattern is then translated into electric impulses that are sent to a dedicated chip on the circuit board. The data is them translated for display. The display shows the various color patterns in the form of images with varying intensities of their infrared emissions.
