MCSC provides direct services to student organization programs that foster a more diverse and culturally aware campus. MCSC intends to coalition and offer resources to help in all aspects of organizing, not to be solely a financial support group. Currently, we have a staff of up to 30 students working in a diverse spectrum of areas to provide the following services.

Outreach

- Assists in the recruitment of volunteers for events.

Organizational Management

- Assists in the use of electronic equipment (camcorders, projector, digital cameras, TV, DVD player, VCR, scanner, laptops)
- Assists in reserving the Conference Room, Media Room, coalitioning with MRCs, LGBT Liaisons, and RAs.
- Assists in creating informational flyers, booklets, leaflets, info packs etc.

Diversity Education

- Assists in developing diversity component of the event/project i.e. finding suitable speaker for an event.
- Assists in projects relating to educational support i.e. mentorship program for students of color.

Programming and Finance

- Assists in developing a budget for the event/project.
- Assists in the overall planning and development of a project/event.

MCSC is a GSSF Funded Org and must adhere to the guidelines set forth by SSFC, which state:

  • A Collaborative Co-Sponsorship Form must be completely filled out ( one by the Coalitioning group and another by MCSC) in order to qualify for cosponsorship with MCSC.

  • MCSC must be a partner in the program planning and implementation. MCSC must be actively attending meetings for the planning process of the program.

  • MCSC members must be a significant part of the intended audience/participants. More than 50% of our members must attend the event or program.

  • The program must support MCSC’s mission, goals, and core purpose. The event/program must somehow enhance the services MCSC provides. MCSC’s Mission:

  • The costs incurred by the program must be included with MCSC’s budget original request to SSFC. (Note some organizations believe that if it was included in their end of the year report that is sufficient to justify continued funding.

  • MCSC must be included on all of the publicity and include a MCSC logo, along with the ASM Logo. A jpeg of MCSC’s logo can be found here.

MCSC also has its own set of funding guidelines:

  • MCSC cannot fund more than 50% of the total costs of the event/program.

  • A detailed budget must be submitted to MCSC which should include a breakdown of costs, all other funding sources, and the amount of funding needed from MCSC. This can be included in your IP form. An example of a budget can be found in the IP Form guidelines (link above).

  • Members of your organization must attend one of MCSC’s Programming and Finance Committee Meeting and present your proposal. You will be expected to have a completed IP Form and budget and be able to answer questions about your program/event.

Failure to adhere to any of these guidelines may result in denial of your cosponsorship request.

To make an appointment with MCSC’s Programming and Finance Committee, get assistance with your IP Form, or if you have any other questions, please email programming@mcscuw.com.
